Accused of rape Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane sentenced to 8 years imprisonment

KATHMANDU: The district court of Kathmandu has sentenced cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane to 8 years in prison for rape.

The bench of Judge Shishirraj Dhakal ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 3 lakh and compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the victim.

Lamichhane was accused of taking the girl named Gaushala 26 to a hotel in Sinamangal, Kathmandu and raping her.

The most complicated issue in this case was the age of the victim.
