Kathmandu: The government has stopped giving work permits to Nepalese citizens in the war-torn countries of Russia and Ukraine. The Department of Foreign Employment has banned the granting of work permits to individuals and institutions in both countries.
The department has issued a notification and said that in order to minimize further damage to Nepali citizens going to Russia and keeping this issue in mind, the work permit for Russia and Ukraine has been postponed until further arrangements are made.
During the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, many Nepalis are joining the Russian army. During the war, 10 Nepalis working in the Russian army have lost their lives.
Some Nepalis were injured. Some have become contactless. In such a situation, the department said that in order to prevent further damage and safety of its citizens, the issuance of work permits has been stopped.
