A conference of environmental human rights defenders concluded by issuing a 10-point declaration

Kathmandu: The conference of environmental human rights defenders was concluded by issuing the ten-point Lalitpur manifesto. The National Conference of Environmental Human Rights Defenders held in Lalitpur on Wednesday issued a 10-point manifesto for air pollution and environmental protection.

The conference, organized by the National Human Rights Commission and in collaboration with USAID Clean Air, concluded that the environment has been damaged due to overexploitation of natural resources and unplanned development.

More than 200 environmentalists from all over the country participated in the conference chaired by Commission Chairman Tap Bahadur Magar. The conference has requested the government of Nepal to review and implement the laws, policies and standards related to the environment in a timely manner to make environmental protection effective.

As Article 30 of the Constitution of Nepal 2072 ensures the right of every citizen to live in a clean and healthy environment, the conference emphasized on its effective implementation.
