Preparation of the government to enter into labor agreements with 8 countries

Kathmandu. The government has started preparing labor agreements with eight more countries. The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has signed labor agreements with 12 countries so far.

The government has informed that it is preparing to sign labor agreements with eight more countries by 2024. Nepal is going to sign labor agreements with Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Poland, Ukraine, Malta and Turkey in 2024.

For that, a draft agreement has been prepared by the ministry and sent to the respective countries. The process of the agreement will proceed after receiving opinions on the draft from those countries.

The government has prioritized labor agreements with various European countries.

The government recently signed labor agreements with Romania and Germany. Joint Secretary of the Ministry, Rajeev Pokharel, informed that the agreement with six more countries is being worked on this year. Nepal currently has labor agreements with 12 countries including Qatar, UAE, Korea, Bahrain, Jordan, Israel, and Malaysia.
